NGBAGH-YO FESTIVAL 2023: SPEAKER DAJOH URGES BENUE PEOPLE TO REVIVE THEIR CULTURE

The Speaker Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Hyacinth Aondo a Dajoh, has urged the Benue people especially the youths to revive and promote Benue culture, history, and festivals as a way of preserving the socio-cultural heritage of the Benue people. 

The Speaker who made the appealed yesterday 2rd January, 2024 in Gboko at the 4th edition of NGBAGH-YO festival held at Gboko club, Gboko local Government area of Benue State appeal to the youths to collaborate in promoting festivals and other great events like NGBAGH-YO that project the rich cultures and traditions of Benue land.

Dajoh who commended the Convener/Funder of NGBAGH-YO, the senior special assistant to the Governor of Benue State on protocol and wardrobe, Hon. Emmanuel Iorbee for his consistency in reviving culture through NGBAGH-YO festival, called on the Benue youths to emulate Hon. Iorbee in the spirit of cultural revival hence according to him, culture is the identity of any society, stressing that Tiv could not afford to allow their history and culture to go into extinction or degenerate. " Our forefathers like Golozo and Tondo Kumbur were local folk singers, uneducated but were zealous to promote Tiv culture to white man land, so please, our educated youths should emulate Iorbee and do more in promoting our culture, our culture is our pride and identity, as for me, iam ready and always there to contribute anytime".

The Speaker who received an award of excellence from organizers of NGBAGH-YO festival, was  Accompanied by the majority leader of Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Saater Itiseer, member representing Logo state constituency, Hon. Samuel Shimapever Jiji and his kitchen cabinet members.

Earlier, the Convener of NGBAGH-YO festival, Hon. Iorbee said, NGBAGH-YO is celebrated annually have over the years remained a rallying point and a unifying factor among youths and various communities in Tiv land. " NGBAGHYO is one of the most prominent platforms for the enactment and actualization of socio-cultural ideals, the festival has continued to enjoy tremendous popularity because it often attracts people from far and wide, next edition we will be featuring beauty pageant Mummy water and Kwaghhir competition."

The Convener further explained that, apart from uniting our people and reviving culture, we organized this NGBAGHYO festival as an avenue to show our appreciation to God for his kindness, protection and love and the general agrarian success recorded during the year. " In the next edition Farmers, who had bumper harvests will be given awards to encourage them".

Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman, central planning committee, Mr. Solomon Iornem JP commended the guests for the trust and confidence the have in the NGBAGHYO festival.

Over 1,500 yams were roasted and shared to the guests with palm oil, grounded beniseed and groundnut, while burukutu and beer were assorted and free for all.
Prominent artists and cultural groups in the state performed at the event to entertain the guests.
