GBOKO AGOG AS AYU GIVES DAUGHTER'S HAND IN MARRIAGE

Gboko town was agog yesterday 9th January, 2024 when the immediate past , National Chairman of the People's Democratic party (PDP), Dr. Christopher Demenongo Iyorchia Ayu of Benue State, gave out his daughter, former Miss. Wanger Iyorchia Ayu to her USA based heartthrob, Mr. Oluwagbotemi Dada of Ekiti State in marriage at Tse Ayu, Igyorov, Ipav Gboko Local Government area of Benue State.

The traditional marriage was done  at the residence of the bride’s father with the groom’s parents, family members, friends and well-wishers from Ekiti in attendance to fulfil the traditional demands of the union.

Speaking during the special reception at Dr. Ayu's Gboko Hills' residence, Chairman of the occasion, Barr. Sam Tsumba, Fathers of the day, Prof. Tseeyo, Prof. Igyo among many other guests of the reception ceremony, counseled the young couple to put God first in all their life’s undertakings so as to guarantee proper divine guidance and building of a Godly home. They noted that all in life is vanity and that only the fear of God could guide one into living a fruitful life devoid of all the troubles and iniquities of this generation.

Parents of the groom, the USA based Dr and Mrs Dada, who led the Edo State team to take the worthy daughter of the former Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, (Dr Ayu)  expressed delight with the ceremony, urging the couple to continue in love for one another so as to be role model their generation.

They thanked all those who left Ekiti State and ather parts of the country especially those that took flights from other parts of the World to accompany him for the marriage of their son, praying God to bless them with the joy of similar celebrations in life.

The Father of the bride, the three times minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Ayu in his remarks, thanked all those who attended the ceremony from all walks of life, noting that their presence was deeply appreciated by him and his family.

Dr. Ayu who declared Miss Wanger and Mr. Oluwagbotemi as husband and wife said, "by Tiv tradition, former Miss Wanger is now a fully married woman, any other ceremonies wether Church or court weddings are just additional ceremony activities, Temi and family became Ayu and Tiv family". 

‘’First, let me thank the God of heaven, Jehovah Almighty, for the gift of a day like this when I retain the privilege and honour of giving out my daughter in marriage by my own hand. Many people die before their daughters celebrate this day in such situations, uncles and family members will then take the place of the father in such a ceremony. That I and my wife are alive to see this day is a thing of joy. We return all the thanks and praise to God Almighty."
