UMM MATRICULATES 250 NEW STUDENTS
* SOLICITS ANNUAL GRANT FROM STATE GOVT
The University of Mkar, Mkar Gboko Benue State on Saturday 8th March, 2024 matriculated no fewer than 250 new students during her 19th matriculation at the university auditorium.
Speaking during the matriculation, the Vice-Chancellor of the university,, Professor Zacharys Anger Gundu, challenged the new students of the institution to demonstrate at all times to the society that UMM offers quality education delivered with equality and flexible access. " We appreciate you for making this University your first choice, We are also very proud of you. Please bear in your minds that an entirely new chapter is open in your lives, and let me assure you that, you have made a good choice for your academic career".
According to him, " the university of Mkar, Mkar is undoubtedly the first private university and faith -based institution of learning in Benue state, established by the NKST Church and chattered by National Universities Commission in 2025, the University is the crown jewel of NKST. At the University of Mkar, Mkar we urge our students to dream with their eyes open. The future is in our hands".
Speaking further, Prof. Gundu revealed that, " we are happy to announce that Senate of the University has approved the separation of the college of science education into a college of science and the college of education. With this approval, we are commencing sandwich programmes this academic session.we have also commenced admission into postgraduate studies in social work. All these will expand our enrollment and consolidate our growth.
The Vice-Chancellor further called on the Government of Benue State to institute annual grant to the University to ensure the instruction's growth and stability and enhance their contribution to the development of the stat.
Guests at the event, Chairman, Matriculation lecture, Prof. Eugenia Member George-Genyi, Guest Lecturer among many others all tasked both the students are guardians on the importance of acquisition of knowledge, skills and character formation.
