SPEAKER OUR MAN OF DEMOCRACY
* HE IS A BRIDGE BETWEEN TEACHERS AND GOVERNOR -Benue Teachers
The Chairman Nigerian Union of Teachers in Benue State, Comrade Levi Terna Akuma has said, Speaker Benue State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh is Benue Teachers' "Man of Democracy as Nigerians celebrate Democracy day today.
The NUT Chairman stated this in an interview with World Link in Makurdi while speaking on the importance of Democracy in the country said, many Nigerians are champions of democracy but for Benue Teachers, Hon. Dajoh is the Man of Democracy.
" Speaker of Benue State, Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh is our Man of Democracy, he is someone who embodies the principles of democracy and fights for its ideals, he is a bridge between Teachers and the Executive Governor of Benue, Rev. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia". He explained.
Speaking further, Comrade Levi Akuma said, "when Teachers had issue of salaries deductions, we had no one to run to, we desperately approached the Speaker, he gave us his words that he will take our matter to the Governor, he kept to his words and our cries reached to the Governor, like jokes, our deducted salaries reversed immediately, infact his actions promoted racial reconciliation."
The NUT Chairman added that, "so far, Governor Alia's Government is the best, this is the first time in the history of Benue State deducted salaries are reversed, it's worth commending and speaker must be appreciated for his efforts to see that our cries are heard. So for we teachers, Mr. Speaker had made significant contributions to the advancement of democracy and human rights, his kind gesture boost the morale of Teachers in Benue."
In his Democracy day celebration message to the Speaker, Comrade Akuma said, "On this Democracy Day, I wish on behalf of Teachers in Benue to express my gratitude to the Honourable Speaker and the entire legislative arm for his tireless efforts in nurturing Benue democracy. Speaker's dedication to serving the State and upholding the principles of democracy is truly commendable.
Number one Teacher further applaud Speaker's commitment to strengthening democracy and promoting the well-being of all commoners. He prayed God to make this Democracy Day to be a celebration of Governor Alia, Speaker, teachers and entire Benue progress and a renewed call to action for a brighter future.
